    inferiority from grandiosity

    1–2 minutes

Your inferiority complex is because of your grandiosity complex.

The reason you feel bad is because you think everything should be so good, so perfect.

    Splitting: refusing the confusion

    1–2 minutes

The psychological term "splitting" occurs when you can only see somebody as "all good" or "all bad."It is a refusal to take in the complexity of the whole person: we are a mix of virtues and weaknesses.

Splitting is reduction, where the "good" people serve your ego (you protect them, but by affiliation, you define yourself.) The "bad" people are demonized, and any goodness they show is suspect, a front for evil machinations.

    squaring the spinning wheel

    1–2 minutes

When a problem is too complicated, meaning it has more than facets but dynamics as well, it becomes a spinning circle.

To simplify this impossible conundrum and grant yourself agency in this dizzying world you can “square the circle": choose a point, ignore the motion, simplify the sides, and commit.

It in no way reflects reality, but it may help you feel better.

    familiarity breeds contempt

    1–2 minutes

It bears repetition: our familiarity provides a depth of understanding that allows us to despise something/someone in nuanced detail, while our ignorance only allows an abstract vague revulsion.

The more you understand, the more alike you are.
The more alike you are, the more your contempt for them acts as a mirror, reflecting your self-contempt.

    Binary thinking confounds reality

    1–2 minutes

Our most significant flaw is binary thinking: winner-loser, zero-one, black-white. Binary categorization makes separateness and opposition fundamental.
In reality, the world is highly relationally contingent. There are no objects or fixity so much as processes over time.

The environment evokes action from an organism, yet we attribute the move as coming from the individual, using it to describe them. Yet, there is no individual without the environment and no action without interactive (shared) evocation.

    Does emergent consciousness require consciousness?

    1–2 minutes

Odd thought: Our world made us to see itself. What if atoms were made in a way that allowed them to be capable of arranging themselves in a way that permitted comprehension of atoms?
This circular argument implies matter itself has a will toward the complexity necessary for self-awareness.

    The pleasure principle’s principle failure.

    1–2 minutes

Hedonism is the pursuit of pleasure: your pleasure.

Over-indexed on hedonism converts altruism into a self-serving glow: loving your child is for your own benefit, not theirs.

This discounts all the other motivations by collapsing them into one principle (selfish motivation), which requires mental two-stepping to validate your impulse to care.

(As humans, we are a multiplicity of drives and perspectives, many of which are social bonds, ideological impulses, and non-rational responsibility to others… which need not be reduced into a singular perspective.)

Our consciousness is managed by our body.

    1–2 minutes

Our feelings spring forth as ideas from our consciousness. Yet, where and why do these arise?
There is a complicated interplay we casually neglect of how our body -an endocrine system of humors- both moderates and produces feeling: it both feeds notions to consciousness and works to dispel wayward ruminations.

  • Theme:

To use is to be used

    1–2 minutes

Are you using technology or is it using you? more complicated: are you using health, or is it using you?
Under the guise of use, we find reliance. Unexamined lay the imperatives of deeper programming driving us.

    Conversational Cadence

    1–2 minutes

There is a cadence to conversation, but to learn the cadence doesn’t have to be equal and you don’t have to pepper people with interrogatory questions: you can speak less and let them reveal their nuanced depths.
