    Attempting solidarity, despite architectural divisiveness

    1–2 minutes

The authority is in the theatrics of the architecture.

At the bank, hospital, DMV, receptionist, or supermarket, we are channeled and herded by flimsy partitions, confronted at the moment of interaction by a translucent plexi shield.

When attempting communication, notice we bow our mouths toward the small money passage. In this posture of obeisance, we petition, propelling our very breath as an envoy of intent.

Despite the pervasive systemic manipulations, we need our humanity to pass through and compel the empathy that reintegrates the divided into solidarity.

Is happiness simply not being stuck in your head?

    1–2 minutes

To become happy, self-center by engaging your body.
Open yourself (mentally and bodily) to the outer world instead of the inner monologue.

The Fight Only Lasts a Minute

    1–2 minutes

Confrontation is a fight. A fight only lasts a minute, but how you feel (scared or content) can last your whole life.
You can avoid the minute for decades, letting it haunt and shape you, or spend one minute to know you took action to save the rest of your life.

Good days require perspective: future you would be ashamed

    1–2 minutes

Picture yourself on your deathbed, and you’ll realize that you never really wanted to keep everything at a moderate low hum of annoyance and make it through the day, trading minor abuse for fleeting rays of happiness.
You wanted to believe in something and throw yourself into it, caring deeply about it. You wanted to live a courageous life following your bliss.

size matters: don’t sweat the small stuff

    1–2 minutes

The small stuff may be insignificant, but how do we know which daily actions impact our character, and which to release?

Consider who you want to be in the future and if your present self is mirroring those values or being pulled into anxiety.

We tend to gravitate towards small things because we can control them to soothe our insecurity. However, if we can control them they truly are small things, probably unworthy of anxious behavior that can shift into manipulating or discounting others.

    healing revelations

    1–2 minutes

Every problem I have could be self-diagnosed, but until verbalized to another it remains malleable: a hidden truth without consequence.
The accountability of deep friends is the path to becoming whole (seen and not hidden).
They reveal you, which heals you: instead of repression and rumination, you can see clearly, forgive, and try a new way with support.

    Contrariness upholds power through stagnation

    1–2 minutes

Addendum to yesterday: The image of a leader (or a concept), standing like a statue at the center of controversy, employs a multi-sided tug-of-war. With each faction working to pull the leader toward them (down) the other side counter-balances, forming guy wires (spokes) of strain that work to center, maintain, and stabilize the controversy.

    Contrary individuation counterbalances into stagnation

    1–2 minutes

Our contrariness is our path to sovereign individuation: “You can’t tell me what to do.”

Soon no one is in charge, and nothing gets done. Social distinctions flatten, and it is hard to see how we compel systems reliant on unity (infrastructure).

As hierarchy collapses into chaos, perhaps we should reconsider our correlation of individual freedom with contrariness.

    Pain is a Re-prioritizer

    1–2 minutes

In the midst of hurting, assigning importance becomes obvious: without our health, we can not pursue frivolities.
I care nothing about work, deadlines, or money in the throes of a migraine. I only want back my ability to function and move through the world, think, and attend to those I care about. In pain, I cease to be me.

    Control Controls You

    1–2 minutes

Control sounds appealing until it has you: you earned it, now you must submit to the drudgery of maintaining control. There is no longer a challenge of achieving. You are trapped in endless maintenance, which makes the novelty of chaos suddenly appealing.
