    Smuggling ideas into maturity

    1–2 minutes

Once established as an authority something becomes elitist, and through it’s inaccessibility it invokes a top-down pressure of wisdom and virtuousness.
One reaction is to affirm the structure, aligning yourself with its importance. Another is to contrarily declaim the authority, assigning yourself as a pure individual outside the sway of an existing narrative.

What is taxing is that these social stances (conformity or rebellion) choose to attack or support the minute something achieves beyond the norm: it’s achievement potential threatens the notion before it can fully mature.

Thus we must hide ideas with benefit, garbing them under the guise of non-negotiable banners, such as individuality.

    Anachronistic Physicality

    1–2 minutes

The physical buffets the intellectual. Attempting to remain isolated and engaged with itself, the mind is constantly interrupted by reality in the form of the body and objects.
This physicality of external pressures, seeming of the old world as we hurtle into the new, is not a curse to be thwarted. It is our medium by which to filter, process, and exercise concepts into reality.

    Health is Politics

    1–2 minutes

The role of governments is to provide some level of safety and security to the citizens in trade for taxes and the collective good.

When we are too sick to think, too sick to function, our world closes to survival. To have a voice, to hold the government to the social contract, we must remain healthy.

Timothy Snyder’s "Our Malady" is a good text to read on this topic.

    Body Resonance allows Mind Residence

    1–2 minutes

We always return to the body. Human care and compassion is rooted in physicality.
Interestingly, if we consider embodied cognition then consciousness is in the body as much as, if not more than, the mind.
Extending further: any abstract theory finds its relation (human receptivity) not in diagrammatic chains of logic, but in the role or impact upon the body.

To ignore the body, or operate outside of it, means there is scant chance of residence in the mind: body resonance allows mind residence.

    Soft serve

    1–2 minutes

With all of our behavioral and cognitive science, with our best practices psychology, there is always a better way to soft serve facts to people. No one is ever "wrong." Instead you made a decision that was right for you in the moment, or you were lacking a vital piece of information.
Our language is really a version of influence marketing.

    Older and Younger

    1–2 minutes

You are always older and younger: forgetting either shortens your life.
Your body is more fragile, your will gives out quicker, but going into overdrive (overcoming) blocks your child-like curiosity, humor, and empathy… for yourself. We often embody the wrong age at the wrong time.

    Designed Nudges

    1–2 minutes

Decisions are made for you through design. We tend to be unaware (or unreactive), and so we are pliable to the "nudges" and manipulations of others. Since nothing is neutral, what are the implications of each decision? If we make something easier, more convenient, what does that teach?

    The strength of vulnerability

    1–2 minutes

The paradox: to be secure you must open up.
One year ago, I was too fragile to be vulnerable, which led to more isolation and fragility: protective defense doesn’t work.
