The danger of being within reach of success

    1–2 minutes

When we feel close to successful completion is when we are the most vulnerable, most prone to error.
We do not pause or re-orient, we simply push harder.

    (Un)happiness

    1–2 minutes

Erich Fromm says we pretend happiness because to be unhappy is to be a failure, which leads to shame.
We have made happiness into a necessity and marketable commodity, when it is a byproduct of purpose or meaning, according to Viktor Frankl.

    Death is Lucky

    1–2 minutes

Do not forget, amidst your self-becoming, the foundational mystery that you are alive and aware in a bizarre universe. Ground yourself in the realization that to “realize” is lucky.
To die is lucky: in one sense because you ever lived, and in another because you are not immortal.
“Has any one supposed it lucky to be born?/I hasten to inform him or her it is just as lucky to die, and I know it.” ~ Walt Whitman

    Us vs. Them

    1–2 minutes

People search for commonality, often through invitation to share in drama or outrage by perpetuating "us vs them" fragmentation.
While sharing and in-grouping bonds people, it also empowers, amplifies, and condones a seductively destructive pattern.

    Solving for Ego

    1–2 minutes

Your brain’s "default mode network" can be seen as your "ego," interpreting (mediating) your inner and outer worlds.
Too much ego can lead to rumination, depression, OCD, and addiction.

One way to quiet ego: get a physical hobby that recognizes mastery. Move out of your head into reality.

    The newest shortcut: shrooms.

    Vulnerability solutions

    1–2 minutes

Option 1: Become a sponge, solvency requires absorption
Option 2: Neutralize toxicity by sharing commonality

    The strength of vulnerability

    1–2 minutes

The paradox: to be secure you must open up.
One year ago, I was too fragile to be vulnerable, which led to more isolation and fragility: protective defense doesn’t work.

    Processing Anger

    1–2 minutes

I was angry when I went to bed, I was angry when I woke up. After three hours of being angry, I sat down and let myself be angry. I looked at the anger.
The emotion turned into ennui instead of anger; an inevitable sadness weighed upon me.
Sitting with that sadness I began to journal, and it lightened me some.

To dissipate the emotional cycle completely I shared the day’s struggles with a loved one.

    Imagining made real

    1–2 minutes

To dream up your goals, to achieve them, to manifest the projection of the "you" you want to be is magic… it is literally a groundless illusion made from imaginings.

    Make your own game

    1–2 minutes

To fit in requires you prove yourself over and over, only to find out it will never be enough. We know this is ridiculous, but here we are again.

Instead, make your own game and when people want to join: be gracious.
