    Difficult decisions

    1–2 minutes

There is an impulse to delay making hard decisions, which can be wise, but during the intervening moments, we convince ourselves that making a decision (getting off the fence) will relieve us.

However, because it is a hard decision, there is no good solution and there will be pain on either side.

Relief comes from a narrowing of options, not the "correctness" of your decision.

    Deferred life

    1–2 minutes

If life is anchored to something beyond life (a transcendent plane, such as heaven), you live life waiting or achieving another life elsewhere.

Your current existence is subjected to a future existence.

    Procrastination is pleasure in pain

    1–2 minutes

While we can easily break our day into chunks to manage it, the procrastinator requires more pain to invoke discipline.
They trade the current moment as stolen joy from a future burden, eventually pinned under the stress and anxiety of "too late."
Procrastinating seems akin to the thrill of gambling: risking loss as a means to generate excitement and challenge, and of course, the commensurate charge if you "pull it off."

    Delay damages

    1–2 minutes

There is always one more hurdle, and the time is never right.
Instead, could you move the moment you feel it? Don’t delay even a second: be spontaneous and find yourself living a fuller (more authentic) life.

  • Theme:

    Spend your life de-stressing

    1–2 minutes

Your stress management is not removing stress: it is delaying it while stoking the embers.

To douse it, change your story.
