    retail therapy

    1–2 minutes

When looking for productive boringness, shopping nicely fills the time.

When disgruntled or overwhelmed, consumerism offers an escapist world of infinite (mostly meaningless) choices into which we can sink, feeling at once active and comforted to employ a well-honed skill.

    CBT or CBD?

    1–2 minutes

Cognitive behavioral therapy and cannabidiol treat symptoms.

In this sense they are topical and situational, thwarting outbursts of pain and soothing the aggravated soul.

While both recognize the site of inflammation, neither resolves the source of vexation.
Both become mediating behaviors you rely on but, for a brief window of time, can offer a space for insight and awareness into your condition.

    Forgetting to love yourself

    1–2 minutes

You can say you love yourself and forgive yourself, but there still is a knot of depression or tightness within you.

It can only be relieved of its oppositional threat within yourself by accepting and befriending it: by loving the depression.

To tell your depression you are their friend and will hold their hand is much more potent (realistic) than trying to expel it.

What is the power of a story?

    1–2 minutes

Finding balance entails much equating of efficiencies and min/max usage.Spending energy on something without tangible use is wasteful and unproductive. Our free time now produces "mental health" or must be justified.

But what about art and stories? A blockbuster movie seems a frivolous waste of resources, as does the amateur artist’s passionate pursuits.

Yet the creation is a story that sustains us, motivates us, circumvents quantification, and disassembles our rational pretenses.

    Planning beyond reason

    1–2 minutes

Working through an insanely optimistic plan changes how you think.
Keep your small daily habits, continue to aggregate your marginal gains, but occasionally go through intense exercises involving schemes for way too much money, insane destinations, and novel values. It can entirely change your life.

  • Theme:

not a bang, but a whimper

    1–2 minutes

When most of us die there will be nothing epic about it. In the grand scheme of things only a handful of people will notice or care, and only for a few years. Rather than being depressing, what does this free you up to do? To become? What exhilarating chances can you take?

    Anachronistic Physicality

    1–2 minutes

The physical buffets the intellectual. Attempting to remain isolated and engaged with itself, the mind is constantly interrupted by reality in the form of the body and objects.
This physicality of external pressures, seeming of the old world as we hurtle into the new, is not a curse to be thwarted. It is our medium by which to filter, process, and exercise concepts into reality.

    Brain Training

    1–2 minutes

Almost no one uses metrics to guide themselves in cognitive labor.
It is normal to train your body for specialized results. Why do we not measure and track our brain fitness equally?
