    Dark Nudges

    1–2 minutes

Random cruelties befall us, dissuading us from our passions and dreams. The dark nudges push us into hiding and sheltering: a contracted life of self-protection.
The more you create the more you engage with the world, and the more interactions you have: both good and bad. Don’t be nudged into the cave of security, reorient to the joy of adventure.

    Discontent Drives Innovation?

    1–2 minutes

They say "discontent drives innovation" and our willingness to creatively engage in the world is to fix it, to make it better.
Yet, this rings hollow, not accounting for the creative play of children and contented adults. It conveniently ignores that creativity often comes not from desperation, but from quiet stability that allows curiosity to flourish.

    Death is Lucky

    1–2 minutes

Do not forget, amidst your self-becoming, the foundational mystery that you are alive and aware in a bizarre universe. Ground yourself in the realization that to “realize” is lucky.
To die is lucky: in one sense because you ever lived, and in another because you are not immortal.
“Has any one supposed it lucky to be born?/I hasten to inform him or her it is just as lucky to die, and I know it.” ~ Walt Whitman

    Designed Nudges

    1–2 minutes

Decisions are made for you through design. We tend to be unaware (or unreactive), and so we are pliable to the "nudges" and manipulations of others. Since nothing is neutral, what are the implications of each decision? If we make something easier, more convenient, what does that teach?

    Confrontation martial arts

    1–2 minutes

Confrontation is alright, when done with respect and love, but it still fuels aggression rather than openness.

Confrontation takes twice as long, with three times the energy, to wear down somebody down to the point they will hear you. Alternatively, you could land one well placed, well timed, insightful question and unravel the illusion of separation and difference, of ego and identity.

Be a master martial artist, not a flailing slap fight.
