Self-help for men often centers on self-discipline and conquest: fortify your mind, dominate your instincts, earn your worth.
In contrast, women’s self-help tends to offer validation over transformation: you are already whole—just stop doubting it.
One prescribes effort, the other permission.
These diverging narratives reflect broader societal expectations—men must prove their value; women must believe in theirs (improvement vs affirmation). Yet both imply a deficit to be overcome: men must gain control, women must gain confidence.
More importantly, consider self-help reshaping and reframing to better fit into society, so one may then attain personal value: personal worth and happiness are correlated with social power.
