The notion that men must “police their own” suggests women shouldn’t bear the burden of shaping male behavior.
Yet, this creates a paradox: when men define their worlds, they often foster restrictive, abusive cultures. Conversely, one could argue that America’s freedom stems from male-driven individualism, the willingness to take risks to build something greater.
Unchecked masculinity can breed toxicity, while overcorrected masculinity risks emasculating identity, turning the natural impulses of men inward only to explode outward in destructive ways.
The challenge is fostering a culture where men can forge their paths without harming others or themselves, recognizing that societal constructs shape behavior as much as individual choices do: to police your own is only a piece of the puzzle, and to abdicate social responsibility is precisely how we set the condition for a chaotic rupture.
